Ningen is a mythical whale-like cryptid. The word "ningen" translated from Japanese means "human" and the creatures are described as large, blubbery, whale-like creatures that share some of the same anatomical features humans do.
Very cool. I've been working on a storybook and comic involving one of these guys [veeeerrry slowly] for a few years now. My take is a little more manatee / pinniped, but I really dig your design (and other cryptids, too).
